Technical sheet. * Style / Period: Louis-Philippe, Germany, circa 1840-1860. * Material (exterior): Structure veneered in select grain pyramidal mahogany. The back of the piece is entirely veneered in mahogany (centre piece). Sliding shelf covered in new natural green leather. Upper tier with three drawers topped with a sculpted gallery. * Material (interior): Drawers and linings in solid oak. Small interior drawers veneered in flamed maple, compartments in mahogany. * Finish: Hand-applied closed-pore glossy shellac. * Dimensions: Width 163 cm|Depth 86 cm|Total height 163 cm (height to the top: 78.5 cm). Description and condition. Large cylinder desk from the Louis-Philippe period. The base rests on two side cabinets with drawers flanked by sculpted twisted columns. The central part features a mechanical cylindrical flap that slides open to reveal a rich interior theatre composed of mahogany compartments and flamed maple drawers. A large sliding top provides additional workspace covered in green leather. The desk is topped with an upper tier with three drawers, crowned with an openwork wooden gallery. The back is fully veneered and varnished, allowing the piece to be placed in the centre of a room. The piece has undergone complete and specialised restoration. The structure is perfectly stable, and the oak linings are clean. All sliding mechanisms and original locks are functional and smooth. The desk is delivered complete with a set of 11 keys fitted to the mechanisms. The shellac finish offers a beautiful shine and great depth of colour. New leather without defects. Not used since its restoration.
