An Art Nouveau sugar bowl produced by WMF at the beginning of the 20th century represents German metalwork of the era, combining a solid body of patinated, silver-plated brass with intricate openwork plant ornamentation. The body is decorated with soft, flowing lines, through which a smooth, intensely green glass insert is visible. The domed lid is embossed with botanical motifs and topped with a spherical handle. The handles take on organic, sinuous shapes, and the whole is supported on three stylised, curved legs with additional decorations. The metal surface combines matte and shiny fragments, emphasising the depth of the ornamentation, and the craftsmanship confirms the high level of skill characteristic of WMF. The construction is solid, and the glass insert is shiny and intact. Condition is very good – there is a delicate patina and subtle signs of use typical for the age of the vessel, with no visible damage or repairs. The form of this sugar bowl evokes a time when nature became a guide for artistic imagination. Airy lines, openwork and botanical motifs speak of an era when art permeated everyday life. The green insert, visible through the metal ornaments, brings to mind a garden enclosed in a silver setting – as if every gesture of taking sugar was part of an Art Nouveau ritual. This type of sugar bowl can be displayed on a classic sideboard in the living room or on a dining table, where, combined with period porcelain and silver cutlery, it will emphasise the historical character of the arrangement. It also works well as a single accent in a modern interior, where it contrasts with minimalist forms, or alongside glass and dark wood to bring out the depth of colours and textures. It can be combined with other objects from the early 20th century to create an eclectic composition with artistic pedigree. No detailed technical data. It is recommended to gently clean the metal surface with a soft cloth without using aggressive agents to preserve the original patina. The glass insert should be washed by hand, avoiding sudden temperature changes.
