Silverware, sugar bowl in silver Louis XVI style, hallmarks late 18th century.

A sugar bowl and its lid in silver, with a cobalt blue glass interior, resting on four claw feet, Louis XVI style. The gallery is pierced with beaded medallions, one engraved with an intertwined monogram, surrounded by garlands of roses and olive foliage, with double handles featuring beaded moulding. The lid with a flared edge consists of a hollow fluted groove, a row of beads, and a plain silver dome. The removable handle, attached to the lid by its nut, features two wild strawberries on a bed of leaves in relief. The cobalt blue glass insert is original. Hallmarks of the silversmith, charge, and discharge, including a "crowned A" for Paris, first regulation of Henry Clavel (late 18th century), under the lid and under the mount. Note: tiny minor dents and scratches on the silver, micro-chips on the neck of the glass, one leaf missing from the handle, play in the fretel. Period: late 18th century.
