Slope desk in rosewood and rosewood marquetry, Louis XV – XVIII century

Magnificent slant-front desk in rosewood and mahogany marquetry, from the Louis XV period, which captivates with its flowing shape, elegance, and the finesse of its veneer arranged in butterfly wings, offering a warm and refined play of symmetries. The curved drop-down front, held by sturdy brackets, opens to reveal a green leather surface adorned with a gilded vignette and delicate motifs at the corners, forming a true little writing theatre. The interior features four stepped drawers, niches, and a secret compartment with a sliding door, typical of quality desks designed to hold correspondence, papers, and precious items. The lower part is organised around three front drawers, all equipped with intricately designed bronze handles, chiselled keys, and functional locks, reflecting the care given to every detail. The cabriole legs, elegantly finished with bronze fittings, complete the ensemble and highlight the supple and harmonious silhouette characteristic of the Louis XV style. An authentic, decorative, and functional piece of furniture, combining charm, craftsmanship, and the spirit of the 18th century, ideal for enriching a classic interior or adding a touch of elegance to contemporary decor.
