Here is a very beautiful cache pot with a magnificent enamel in more or less dark, milky gray tones, a very beautiful artisanal work of turning, modeling and enameling. The signature is not or barely visible (we can see a mark which could be the letters VN, but on the slightly chamotte, rough stoneware, the signatures are hardly visible and even less after years of life and wear of the base of the ceramic). In any case, there is no doubt in my mind, it is a ceramic which comes from the workshop, Les poteries de la Vallée Noire, closed for years, with its enamel called "Gris de Verneuil" so particular! This workshop, which apparently existed since 1832 (previously Mijoin workshop) was the last in Verneuil-sur-Igneraie, while there were 19 in the 19th century. The workshop stamp is not visible, so this ceramic was not among the last from the workshop, before that, the ceramics were marked VN by hand. This cachepot can also serve as a large empty pocket or container for wooden spoons, spatulas and other accessories in the kitchen. It is in very good condition, no cracks, no chips, not even a chip, maybe just slight stains on the bottom, unless it is original. It measures 16.5 cm in height, 20 cm in diameter at the top, approximately 29 cm in width including handles.
