Stoneware jug from Saint-Père, signed. Originating from the workshops of Saint-Père, a renowned centre for Burgundian stoneware, this jug is part of a tradition of utilitarian pottery where mastery of glazes and precision of forms take precedence over ornamentation. Generous body, tapered neck, sharply pinched spout, and a wide, well-anchored handle. Deep blue glaze, featuring lighter, almost stony natural variations. The material is not decorative; it comes from the firing: satin areas, more matte passages, and subtle relief. The turning remains visible beneath the glaze, adding rhythm without weighing down the line. Incised signature under the base: Saint Père and SW, for Sylvie Wlotkowski, a potter based in Saint-Père since 1994. In excellent vintage condition, shiny. Height 15 cm, length from handle to spout 14 cm, maximum diameter 9.5 cm, base diameter 8.5 cm. Estimated capacity: approximately 75 cl. A perfect dialogue between deep blue and stoneware.
