Pair of Spencer House leather office chairs

We are delighted to offer for sale this superb pair of burgundy leather and mahogany armchairs from Spencer House, built for the Spencer family between 1756 and 1766 for John, the first Earl Spencer, currently Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer. Various pieces of furniture come from the last sale of Spencer House, still owned by the family of Lady Diana Spencer. In the 1980s, Lord Rothschild rented the property, which was restored and furnished with these pieces in the recently restored offices, meeting rooms, and reception rooms. This armchair is part of a small set. The armchair has been deeply cleaned, hand-waxed, and fully polished. The dimensions are: height 95 cm, width 58.5 cm, depth 59.5 cm, seat height 47.5 cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. The item is available for collection from our warehouses in Pulborough. Please refer to the detailed photos for the condition, which is good with wear consistent with age and slight discolouration. The vintage leather has a natural patina with creases and wear; it is recommended to wax annually to preserve moisture. As the leather has been hand-dyed, it should not be exposed to prolonged direct sunlight to avoid drying and discolouration.
