A vase from the 1970s, attributed to the Tarnowiec Glassworks, made of thick, hand-blown glass in a deep, plum-purple colour with a high gloss. The body has a bulbous, organic form that smoothly tapers towards a short, wide neck with a gently flared rim. On both sides are transparent glass handles in the form of loops, providing a subtle contrast to the colourful body and emphasising the artisanal character of the piece. The solid, transparent base gives the whole item stability, and the surface is decorated with delicate irregularities and small air bubbles – including one open on the inside of the neck – testifying to its handmade nature. The vase is in good vintage condition, with visible minor signs of use and a characteristic open bubble on the neck, without major damage. This vase carries a story from the 1970s, when Polish glassworks experimented with colour and form, inspired by the global mid-century modern trend. Its organic shape evokes the calm rhythm of everyday life of that era, and the deep shade of plum purple reflects light like a water surface at dusk. The transparent handles, frozen in motion, resemble the gesture of an artist allowing the glass to set in a fleeting form. Small air bubbles act as microscopic capsules of history – proof of authenticity and a living connection with the workshop of decades past. The Tarnowiec vase can be displayed on an oak console or among other glass vessels from the era, where it will highlight contrasts of colours and materials.
