Important secretary desk in Venetian style, Louis XV, made of marquetry walnut.

Important Louis XV style Venetian writing desk in marquetry walnut – 19th century – H. 239 cm. A superb and imposing writing desk in walnut, richly inlaid, opening with a drop front and topped with a glazed cabinet. The lower section features three wide, curved front drawers, adorned with period bronze handles. The drop front reveals a compartmentalised interior with cubbies, small drawers, and niches, providing a generous workspace. The upper part, with two moulded glazed doors, is crowned with an elegant, curved pediment typical of the Louis XV/Regency style. The marquetry decoration in walnut veneer, with flamed and geometric patterns, gives the whole piece a great visual richness. Interior lined with fabric (later). Dimensions: Height: 239 cm Width: 102 cm Depth: 52 cm. Condition: Generally good condition. Signs of wear and typical restorations, small cracks and old accidents visible, particularly on the wood and glass. The piece is sound and stable. A very beautiful characterful piece of furniture, both decorative and functional.
