A striking Belgian Art Deco three-seat sofa dating from around 1930. The sofa features generous proportions and a strongly sculptural silhouette, with broad, rounded side panels supporting elegant waterfall-shaped armrests. The gently curved backrest and segmented upholstery create a balanced architectural composition, while the low wooden feet emphasise its grounded, streamlined character. The sofa retains its original period velvet upholstery in a warm beige to mocha tone, with reflective pile creating subtle variations in colour depending on the light and viewing angle. This natural variation gives the upholstery considerable depth and contributes to the authentic character of the piece. The sofa comes from the private residence of the family behind Eperon d’Or, the renowned Belgian shoe factory in Izegem, where it was part of a complete matching salon suite. Although no maker’s mark was found, its confident proportions, refined upholstery work and expressive curved construction indicate high-quality Belgian production. Dimensions: Depth X Height X Length: 88 X 80 X 245 cm. Seat height: 41 cm. The internal webbing beneath the seats, which supports the original spring construction, was professionally replaced, and the undersides were neatly refinished. Good original vintage condition with visible signs of age and use consistent with its approximately ninety-year history. The velvet shows fading, tonal variation, scattered marks, light staining and localised surface wear. These traces are clearly documented in the photographs and contribute to the sofa’s authentic, time-worn character. The sofa remains structurally solid and ready for use. A highly decorative and atmospheric Belgian Art Deco sofa, offered separately from the three matching lounge chairs.
