Beautiful william hutton and son silver plated biscuit tin, in very good condition. A beautiful luxury english victorian silver plated biscuit tin with raised decoration and a finial on the hinged lid. Made in the 1860s by the prestigious silversmith william hutton and son in england. It has a round body with straight sides, hand chased fluting, a hinged lid decorated with a cast foliate finial, and stands on three lion paw feet. Large and impressive, this tin could also be used as a decorative item, a tea caddy, or even an ice bucket. Marked to the underside with the mark used by william hutton & son between circa 1864 and 1870. A round bodied tin with applied beaded borders, straight sides, and in the neoclassical style, with a domed hinged lid decorated with a cast finial and three cast claw feet. Dimensions: height with lid: approximately 19.5 cm height: 13.5 cm jar diameter: 13 cm base diameter: 18 cm weight: 685 grams excellent vintage condition. Signs of wear on the inside of the base.
