Antique silver-plated biscuit box originally by James Deakin & Sons, made in Sheffield, England, in the late 19th century. The company was founded in Sheffield in 1865 by James Deakin. Their trademark was James Deakin & Co., and in 1871 he worked with his three sons, William, John, and Albert, to change the company's name to Deakin James & Sons. In 1888, the company opened offices and shops in London, as well as branches in Glasgow and Belfast. In 1897, it changed its name again to become James Deakin & Sons Ltd. It closed in 1936. The antique biscuit box bears the original manufacturer's label. A certificate of authenticity is issued by an Italian jewellery company. Very good vintage condition.
