Rare four-column secretary from the Empire period in flamed mahogany and gilded bronze. Important drop-front secretary in flamed mahogany opening with a waist drawer, a drop front revealing an entirely fitted interior with compartments, drawers, and secret sections, as well as three drawers at the lower part. The façade features a spectacular veneer of fern leaves arranged in butterfly wings, enhanced by rich ornamentation of finely chased gilded bronze. The drop front is centred with an elegant winged figure holding a laurel crown, a symbol of Victory. The uprights are adorned with finely chased bronze capitals, while the lower crosspiece is decorated with a prominent mask and scrolls. The interior, preserved in its entirety, reveals a refined architecture composed of arched niches, six side drawers, a central secret compartment, and a writing desk covered in green leather with gilt tooling. The piece rests on sculpted claw feet and is topped with a moulded black marble top. Due to the exceptional quality of its mahogany, the richness of its bronzes, and the presence of its original interior fittings, this secretary is a remarkable testament to French furniture from the early 19th century. Empire period, first quarter of the 19th century. Dimensions: Height: 146 cm. Width: 103 cm. Depth: 48 cm. Very good condition. Complete interior. Original locks and keyholes.
