Antique Empire Secretary in Veneered Mahogany

We present you an antique piece of furniture covered with mahogany veneer with beautiful grain. It is topped with a green marble board. The whole is dated to the turn of the 18th and the 19th centuries. This secretary consists of a double-leaf cabinet with drawers and a movable board hiding the interior, which is flush with the rest, along with a set of small drawers and a drawer under the cornice. The inner side of the board is lined with green leather. The brass fittings complement the whole. The presented secretary has undergone renovation. It was finished, in accordance with conservation guidelines, in Shellac, prepared and layered using old techniques. There are vertical traces of cracks on the two leaves.
