This characterful wall lamp was designed by hans-agne jakobsson and produced by his company, hans-agne jakobsson ab markaryd, in sweden during the 1960s. The design beautifully reflects jakobsson’s distinctive approach to scandinavian lighting, combining natural materials, sculptural form and a warm, atmospheric quality of light. The shade is a rare model and constructed from a series of overlapping, conically arranged bands of pine veneer, held together by slender vertical wooden supports. The layered construction filters the light through the openings between the veneer bands, creating a soft and decorative glow while beautifully emphasising the natural grain and warm colour of the wood. The shade is mounted on a simple, geometric pine wall bracket that complements its organic appearance. The lamp remains in very good vintage condition, with age-related traces of use consistent with its age. These include some very minor marks, as visible in the photographs. A distinctive and highly decorative example of swedish mid-century lighting, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in a living room, bedroom, hallway or reading corner.
