Pendant lamp in Swedish pine from Scandinavian production, 1960s

Pendant lamp crafted from Swedish pine, featuring a circular shade with a vertically developed profile, formed by a succession of horizontal bent wooden slats connected by radial uprights that give the structure its gently tapered silhouette. The composition alternates solid and open sections, partially concealing the light source while enhancing the depth of the volume through the rhythmic arrangement of the wooden elements. Construction of this kind became increasingly widespread in Scandinavian lighting during the 1960s, when wood was reinterpreted not only as a structural material but also as a means of shaping and modulating light. Derived from Pinus sylvestris, Swedish pine was widely appreciated for its flexibility and dimensional stability, characteristics that allowed lightweight curved structures to be produced with precision. The clean geometric design recalls the work of designers such as Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen and Werner Schou, who played a significant role in the evolution of Nordic lighting during the second half of the twentieth century.
