Pair of Asian armchairs in carved wood with mother-of-pearl inlays – 20th century. Superb pair of Chinese armchairs in exotic wood, featuring significant carved and openwork decoration. The high backs are particularly elaborate, adorned with scrolls, foliage, and floral motifs carved into the wood. In the centre, an oval wooden medallion hosts a delicate floral decoration inlaid with mother-of-pearl, depicting flower bouquets in vases. The curved and extensively carved armrests extend the elegance of the decor. The solid seats are made of framed wooden panels, while the belts feature a lightly raised carved decoration. The whole rests on four curved legs. A very decorative pair, remarkable for the richness of its carving and the contrast between the warm tone of the wood and the mother-of-pearl inlays.
