African handcrafted side table sculpted from lightweight wood using a traditional monoxyle technique. The slightly curved oval top is finely hand-engraved with a stylised animal design surrounded by plant and geometric motifs. The sculpted scalloped edge and openwork base give it a sculptural presence characteristic of African tribal furniture. The dark brown patina shows beautiful signs of age, revealing lighter raw wood in places, particularly inside the base, creating a very decorative natural contrast. Irregularities in the wood, variations in colour, and signs of use are consistent with its age and vintage condition.
