Old French provincial wooden bench, no. 2 | 335 cm

The gathering bench, no. 2 The good news? We have not one, but two of these wonderful benches! With an impressive length of 3.35 meters, this 19th-century French antique bench was clearly designed with a purpose. Its remarkable length and low height stimulate the imagination. Did it spend its days in a village school, with rows of children swinging muddy boots underneath? Was it the silent witness to countless farm dinners? Or perhaps it was in a bustling workshop, where craftsmen took a lunch break before returning to their work. Whatever its original role, one thing is certain: this bench was never meant for just one person. It was made for gathering. Made of solid pine, it possesses that wonderfully authentic character that only time can create. The wood has aged into a rich, deep patina, while every worn corner and every small imperfection tells a story of daily life. Nothing is forced here. Time has done all the decorating. At only 33.5 cm in height, the bench has an unexpected sculptural quality. Place it under a gallery wall or in a long hallway. It has that rare talent of feeling perfectly at home wherever you put it. The wood has been professionally treated against termites, so its next chapter can begin with confidence. A small warning: with its 3.35 meters in length, this is not a piece that slips discreetly through the front door. It prefers a grand entrance. So check your access before falling in love.
