Pair of Louis Kalff NX40 teak and glass wall lights for Philips

A pair of NX40 wall sconces, made of bent teak, white lacquered metal, and opaline rectangular glass. Designer: Louis Christian Kalff (1897-1976) for Philips. Circa 1960s. Origin: Netherlands. These lamps consist of a rectangular base supporting a bent tube with a black plastic bayonet socket and an off-white lacquered metal ring. This ring holds a white opaline tubular glass diffuser, with a raised ring in the middle of the tube resting on the metal ring. The band is made of thermoformed plywood covered with teak veneer, slightly wider in the center, and is attached to the base, concealing both the metal ring and the base. Although unsigned, these sconces are referenced in numerous publications! To mount them on the wall, you will need to add a small angle bracket. So, you'll need to be at least somewhat handy or know someone who's skilled with electricity. Condition: Fair to good. See photos. The original opaline glass shades are not broken (they look a little dirty in the photos, but will be cleaned before shipping). The metal backings are slightly rusty, but this won't be noticeable once installed!.
