Iconic designer lamp designed by Louis Kalff for Philips, the Diplomat lamp, better known as the Z-lamp, a top design piece from the 1950s and 1960s, Netherlands. This table lamp or desk lamp features the iconic Z frame made of solid brass, a black round base, and the typical Louis Kalff round lampshade, marked "Philips" at the top. It includes the original mirrored headlight bulb; the brass has been polished. This lamp is highly collectible and rare in this condition. The lampshades are quite susceptible to dents due to the thin material. The shade is inspired by a flying saucer, as UFOs were popular at the time, partly due to the Roswell incident. This lamp is a timeless, space-age design object that fits seamlessly into a vintage or modern interior!
