Superb and rare pair of Art Deco period bookends (circa 1925-1930) in bronze with a beautiful gold medal patina. This pair consists of two sculptural figures in motion, with arms proudly outstretched and dressed in highly stylized geometric drapery: one represents a dancer with a "boyish" haircut, while the other depicts a male figure adorned with an Egyptian-inspired headdress ("Return from Egypt"), a key aesthetic of the 1920s following the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922. Prestigious origin: The inner edges bear the official relief seal of the famous German art foundry "BERLIN - FRIEDENAU" (Hermann Noack Foundry), known worldwide for casting works by the greatest sculptors of the 20th century (Barlach, Kolbe, Moore). The pieces rest on their original solid metal L-shaped base. The rigorous geometric lines and the stylization of the bodies perfectly characterize the pinnacle of the Art Deco period. Authentic collector's items, ideal for dressing an elegant library or a modernist interior. The set features a richly nuanced original gold medal patina, which has retained all its historical luster without any abrasive wear. Height 16cm and 16.5cm. Width 15cm. Depth 15cm. Weight 0.860kg. Shipping will be done via Colissimo with insurance.
