Antique bronze of a nude young woman, Western Europe, most likely French, Belle Epoque, early 20th century, ca. 1910. No signature, just a small mark on the bronze base, probably ART / BRONZE (?) in a rounded square. She leans forward on a rocky base, arms thrown wide and back, hair tousled by the wind. The pose and the windswept hair made me think straight away of Charles Sykes' Spirit of Ecstasy (1911), the lady on the Rolls-Royce bonnet, only this one has no billowing robes to hide behind and she's less over the top. I don't know the original title, so just for fun I'd call her Spirit of Joy, or Joie de Vivre. Real bronze, very heavy, with high copper content. An old, nice quality cast with an original old patina, on a dark green veined marble base. Very good antique condition. Height: 41 cm (16.1 in) Marble base: 22 X 9 cm (8.7 X 3.5 in) Shipping cost is approximate, please contact me to confirm the quote.
