African mask Yaka Suku - Ethnic decoration of Congo

Superb mask of the yaka or suku ethnic group in the south of the democratic republic of congo. This wooden mask with raffia adornment was worn by an adult dancer to celebrate the initiation of teenagers passing to adulthood at the end of various rituals. This is a unique piece brought back to belgium in the 1960s. The high-end lacquered steel stand is included to present this work of art charged with the power of africa with dignity.
