Extendable and compact dining table in teak, made in the 1960s by Hundevad & Co. in Denmark. With a size of only 80 × 80 cm, it fits into small rooms and dining corners, while its two hidden extensions beneath the top transform it into a 144 cm table for six people with just a few gestures. Hundevad & Co. was founded by cabinetmaker Poul Hundevad and specialised in high-quality teak furniture; in addition to its own designs, the workshop produced furniture for designers such as Kaj Winding, Carlo Jensen, and Harald Plum. The design of this table is attributed to Poul Hundevad himself. What makes this table special is its finely stretched shape: on each side, the top is slightly wider in the centre than at the corners, giving it a subtle boat-like form – a refined detail that adds tension and elegance to this small table. The apron follows this line with a gentle curve on its lower edge. Solid teak edges frame the top, and the solid round teak legs taper downwards. The two extensions are stored invisibly beneath the top and can be easily pulled out using fine handles. The teak features a lively, striped grain and a warm golden brown hue. Condition: very good vintage condition – stable and fully functional, the extensions slide out easily. A compact Danish table with a strong presence for discerning interiors. Dimensions: approx. 80 × 80 × 70 cm (width × depth × height) With two extensions of 32 cm each – extended length approx. 112 or 144 cm.
