Wear is consistent with age and use. This Japanese low tansu was made during the Taishō period (1912–1926), a time of gentle transition in Japanese daily life. Without major breaks from tradition, domestic interiors gradually evolved: spaces became more flexible, and furniture began to better accommodate more practical daily use. Made from Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), a lightweight, aromatic wood that is naturally resistant to moisture, this tansu features a simple structure and functional organisation. It consists of two upper compartments with sliding doors and three lower drawers, providing clear and practical storage. The patina is natural and uniform, marked by time without excess.
