This antique pine wood sideboard features two flat doors with wrought iron ring handles and a simple low rail. It originates from northern China, dating from the end of the Qing dynasty, where pine was crafted using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Chinese domestic furniture from the north maintained stable typologies throughout the Qing dynasty. The variant without painted decoration — flat panels, discreet peripheral frame, simple low rail — belongs to the more understated vernacular register, where the natural grain of the wood and iron fittings compose the entire visual expression. The body is constructed from solid pine. The front consists of two identical flat-panel doors without a cut-out frame, framed by vertical stiles. The sides are solid, and the feet extend at right angles to the ground. The handles are circular wrought iron rings fixed with visible rivets. The joinery is traditional Chinese mortise and tenon, without screws. The patina retains a warm natural tone. The grain of the pine remains visible, with characteristic knots and gentle chromatic variations on the top surface. The most exposed areas — upper edges, corners, and the perimeter of the doors — have acquired a darker tone due to wear. The surface has no added finish: the expression relies entirely on the worked wood. Details. Dimensions: Length 161 cm – Depth 40 cm – Height 79 cm. Style: Qing Dynasty.
