This antique pine wood sideboard features two double-moulded framed doors. It originates from northern China, dating from the end of the Qing dynasty, where the pine was crafted using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Narrow two-door sideboards were continuously used in urban homes in northern China. They served to store everyday items in the main room, in inner rooms, or in passage areas. The simple structure — two doors, a lower band, integrated base — made them functional pieces without decorative pretensions, relying solely on the quality of the woodwork. The body is constructed from solid pine. The structure is a rectangular volume closed by two identical double-moulded framed doors and a central reserve top. Below the doors runs a lower band with a smooth panel. The handles are made of wrought iron, with a circular ring fixed by a rivet. The joinery is traditional Chinese mortise and tenon, without screws. The base rests on integrated feet. The patina shows a naturally aged pine tone, with visible grain and subtle colour variations between the boards. The mouldings of the frames have slightly darkened with handling; the centre of the doors retains a lighter tone. The hardware shows stable oxidation. The surface of the top plate bears slight signs of use. Details. Dimensions: Length 170 cm – Depth 40 cm – Height 88 cm. Style: Qing Dynasty.
