The iconic Swan armchair was designed by Arne Jacobsen and manufactured by the Danish company Fritz Hansen in 1958. This piece is from the first production series. The armchair was created as part of Jacobsen's comprehensive project for the SAS Royal Hotel (now the Radisson Collection Royal Hotel) in Copenhagen. The soft and organic lines of the armchair result from the designer's artistic approach to design and innovative technology, for which Fritz Hansen secured the rights in the 1950s. This technology allows for the shaping of furniture from hard foam material, offering more possibilities than wood. This is how Jacobsen's most famous designs were created, including the Swan, Egg, and Drop chairs, which combined modern technology, craftsmanship, and the designer's free vision. The armchair has been re-upholstered in high-quality natural leather in chocolate brown with a visible texture. The swivel base with four arms is made of chrome. The Swan frequently appeared in Arne Jacobsen's comprehensive architectural projects, including St. Catherine's College in Oxford from 1964 and the cathedral-like hall of the National Bank of Denmark. The chair is in very good condition. The upholstery has been restored. The seat height is 39 cm. The original signature is attached to the chair (it comes from the original leather upholstery, which has been completely destroyed by time). The leather has natural wrinkles. The colours of the products shown in the photos may differ slightly from the actual ones. This is due to individual monitor settings and lighting conditions – the photos were taken in artificial light, which may affect the perception of colours. However, we strive to ensure that the photos reflect the actual appearance of the product as faithfully as possible. The offer may include photos of the item in a living space, but these are for illustrative purposes only.
