We are delighted to offer for sale this charming Chesterfield captain's or director's chair in cigar brown leather, fully restored and hand-dyed. This original Victorian chair, dating from around 1880-1900, features a mahogany frame and period leather. The seat platform is suspended by straps and springs, and the chair swivels, being one of the first swivel chair models ever made, which was a novelty at the time. The condition is good, with a complete restoration including washed leather, hand-dyed six times, antiqued, sealed, waxed, and polished. The frame has lion paw (claw & ball) feet, slightly waxed and hand-polished. Signs of patina related to age and use are visible, which is normal for a piece of furniture 120 to 140 years old. Dimensions: Height: 102 cm, Width: 65 cm, Depth: 75 cm, Seat height: 48 cm. The period leather naturally shows cracks, creases, and wear, which the seller recommends protecting with regular waxing to prevent moisture loss and deterioration from prolonged sun exposure.
