We offer for sale this charming captain's or director's Chesterfield armchair in hand-dyed cigar brown leather, fully restored. This armchair is a beautiful and sturdy original Victorian example, dating from around 1880-1900. The frame is made of mahogany and the leather is period. The seat platform is made of canvas with coil springs. The armchair has been completely restored: the leather has been scrubbed, hand-dyed six times, aged, sealed, waxed, and polished. It shows the signs of use and patina normally associated with a piece aged 120 to 140 years. Dimensions: height: 81 cm, width: 71 cm, depth: 72 cm, seat height: 50 cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. The period leather naturally shows cracks, creases, and signs of wear; it is recommended to wax it regularly and to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent drying out or discolouring the hand-dyed leather.
