Overview: Petite historicism box made in Germany, circa 1880. Compact, elegant form ideal for jewellery or keepsakes. Materials: Oak construction with birch veneer panels. Maple and ebony inlays used for edge stringing; brass hardware present. Decoration: Large oval marquetry inlay on the lid featuring a shell motif with pyrographic detailing. Chevron/herringbone birch panel framed by multiple concentric inlaid borders and fine dark stringing. Construction: Interior in oak with visible remnants of original fittings. Egg-and-dart moulding detail along the lower edge and brass hinges and lock. Dimensions: Width 27.5 cm X Depth 17.5 cm X Height 9.4 cm.
