Large Victorian Box in Mahogany & Oak, England, 1840s

Overview: Large early Victorian storage box, England, circa 1840s. Low rectangular form with a flat lid and bun-style feet. Design: Mahogany veneered on oak with a fan (sunburst) inlay in a lighter tone on the lid. Central oval medallion on the top and a small metal keyhole escutcheon at the front. Materials: Mahogany body with oak veneer and maple inlay. Includes a single brass pair of scissors kept inside. Dimensions: Width: 36 cm • Depth: 28 cm • Height: 16 cm. Perfect as a decorative storage box on a console, shelf or sideboard.
