Large parquet mirror from the Empire period – Gilded bronze – 19th century

Large Empire-style parquet mirror from the early 19th century, with a rectangular frame made of solid wood stained dark mahogany. The upper pediment is adorned with a finely chiselled gilded bronze lion's head. The entire perimeter of the frame is rhythmically decorated with gilded bronze rosettes arranged at regular intervals. The mirror, of monumental size (total height: 248 cm, weight: 80 kg), shows slight foxing and signs of wear on the backing, characteristic of antique glass. The reverse reveals a construction of raw wooden boards assembled into a panel, reinforced with cross braces, showcasing traditional 19th-century carpentry. Some scratches are visible on the frame; the overall structure is well preserved. The patina and wear are consistent with the age of the piece.
