Burgundian Chest in Walnut from the Louis XIII Period, 17th Century. Authentic Burgundian chest in solid walnut from the Louis XIII period, dating from the 17th century. Of a simple and elegant rectangular shape, it rests on flattened ball feet and features a beautiful peripheral moulding at the lid and base. The front is adorned with its old lock with a cut-out entry in wrought iron. The monoxyle lid is reinforced inside by three long original wrought iron hinges. The interior retains its side storage compartment (for documents or precious items), characteristic of old regional chests. The construction with wide assembled panels and visible dovetails attests to traditional craftsmanship from the 17th century. The walnut has a beautiful honey-brown patina acquired over the centuries. This type of chest was used both for storing linen and for transporting and preserving valuable goods in Burgundian homes.
