Antique Art Nouveau style triptych barber mirror, original, from a French collection, dating from the early years of the 20th century (1900 - 1910). This item is a classic folding triptych mirror (commonly referred to as a "barber mirror" or travel mirror), made in Western Europe, most likely in France. It consists of three panels articulated by small ring hinges. The perimeter frames are made of metal (iron or brass with a patina darkened by time). It retains the original chain of links for hanging on the wall. The back panels of the side wings display chromolithographs protected by glass, while the central panel (reverse shown in the photo) holds a rigid cardboard backing that protects the main mirror inside. The rear illustrations are a magnificent example of Art Nouveau imagery. They feature idealised female figures (nymphs or allegories of nature) dressed in flowing tunics and surrounded by organic elements: a waterfall, flowers, a bird, and cherubs or cupids with bows. The fluid lines, sinuous postures, and pastel colour palette (greens, yellows, and flesh tones) are the hallmark of this artistic movement. The object shows the logical and desired marks of its age, but remains functional. It is in acceptable condition, with a patina that adds undeniable character to the piece, making it a truly special object. Dimensions: 40 cm long when fully extended, 18 cm high, and 12.5 cm wide for each mirror. It will be shipped in careful and secure packaging.
