Gien earthenware 19th century. Medicis vase "with chimeras" in earthenware, with a belly on a central foot, handles shaped like chimeras. The decoration in the style of the Italian Renaissance features a crowned cartouche on a black background, set against an ivory background sprinkled with chimeras, cupids, butterflies, and the goddess of the harvest. The neck and base are adorned with a frieze of fantastic animals on a midnight blue background. Gien mark 1875-1934.
