Faience vase from Gien with Renaissance decoration – Hand-painted decor. Important polychrome faience vase from the Gien factory, hand-decorated. The piece features a sumptuous Renaissance-inspired decoration on a deep blue background, richly adorned with scrolls, putti, and finely executed floral motifs in shades of yellow, green, and white. The composition, perfectly balanced, is organised around mythological figures in a characteristic Italianate style of Gien's major productions. The sculpted handles in the shape of fantastic creatures enhance the spectacular and decorative character of the whole.
