Bunk bed by Pierre Guariche, Negroni edition, circa 1968.
Bunk bed designed by Pierre Guariche in the late 1960s for the apartments at the La Plagne resort. Made of plywood and white laminate, highlighted by edges and visible wooden elements, it forms a compact architecture integrating two stacked sleeping areas. Guariche utilises height to free up floor space, a central principle of modular furniture for small mountain spaces. Complete set: bunk bed, ladder, end-of-bed storage, two illuminated bedside tables, two cushions, and original blankets. The bedside tables made of curved plywood and white laminate combine a shelf and lighting, with orange bulb covers, a characteristic detail of the model. The double bed, sold separately, completes the arrangement and can be partially positioned under the bunk bed to form a bench. Provenance: apartment at the La Mongie - Tourmalet resort, furnished by Pierre Guariche. Edition: Negroni, circa 1968. Bibliography: Delphine Jacob, Lionel Blaisse, Pierre Guariche, Éditions Norma, pp. 200-219.
