Kai Kristiansen oval dining table in rosewood Villy Schou Andersen Denmark 1960

A beautifully proportioned Model 56 extendable dining table designed by Kai Kristiansen and produced by Villy Schou Andersen in Denmark during the 1960s. Crafted in richly figured rosewood, the table features a round top with carefully matched grain and a softly rounded solid rosewood edge. Slender tapered legs give the table a light and refined appearance. The table extends from a compact 115 cm round table to an oval dining table measuring 170 cm in length. The additional leaf integrates neatly with the original tabletop, offering flexibility for both smaller and larger dining settings. Balanced proportions, refined detailing and the expressive use of rosewood are characteristic of Kai Kristiansen’s approach to Danish modern design. The tabletop has been carefully refinished with a high-quality UV-resistant lacquer while preserving its original character. The frame has been cleaned, structurally checked and treated with oil. The table is in excellent condition and ready to use.
