Beautiful model 394 sideboard designed by Kai Kristiansen and produced by Aksel Kjersgaard in Denmark during the 1960s. Crafted in rosewood, the sideboard features a long, low-profile cabinet with two wide drawers, each fitted with a distinctive recessed circular handle. The exceptionally expressive grain runs beautifully across the top and drawer fronts, emphasizing the rich variation and depth of the rosewood. The cabinet rests on a slender raised base with four subtly shaped legs, giving the substantial storage piece a light and balanced appearance. Carefully executed dovetail joints inside the drawers further demonstrate the high level of craftsmanship. Clean proportions, understated detailing and the expressive use of rosewood are characteristic of Kai Kristiansen’s refined approach to Danish modern design. Marked at the back with the original Aksel Kjersgaard manufacturer’s stamp and model number 394.
