George III Library Thomas Chippendale in Hardwood on Serpentine Chest of Drawers

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent mahogany library in the George III style by Thomas Chippendale on a serpentine commode. A splendid find, truly dazzling, inspired by the original pieces of Thomas Chippendale, circa 1800. The commode features a beautiful curved serpentine finish, the drawers are lined with fabric and have lovely details, and the top has a service tray in oxblood leather. The upper library is lined with red velvet. We have cleaned, waxed, and polished the entire piece from top to bottom; the wood has some old repairs in places, but it is overall in superb condition. Dimensions: Height 211.5 cm (the pediment alone measures 25.5 cm included in the total height), Width 95 cm, Depth 50 cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. Please note that vintage and original period items like this leather seat will always have a natural patina in the form of cracks, creases, and wear. We recommend regular waxing to prevent moisture loss; additionally, hand-dyed leather is not advised to be exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods as it may dry out and discolour.
