Funeral mask XIV - Official casting Louvre (1979) - Luminous patina

Superb wall sculpture in plaster with a patinated finish resembling ancient stone, an official reproduction from the Moulding Workshops of the Louvre Museum (originally dated 23 October 1979). This work faithfully reproduces the famous fragment of a medieval marble effigy from the early 14th century, a masterpiece preserved at the Fine Arts Museum of Arras. The female face, with finely detailed features and a serene expression, is framed by a veil and a chin strap (the guimpe), an emblematic hairstyle of the nobility in the Middle Ages. AUTHENTICITY AND WORKSHOP MARKINGS (visible on the back): • Official authenticity seal embedded in the plaster: raised pink disc bearing the exact wording: "MUSÉE DU LOUVRE – REPRODUCTION INTERDITE – ATELIERS DE MOULAGE". • Handwritten workshop inscription from the period: "copy - Musée Arras - 23 Oct 79". • Original steel wall suspension system, sealed within the mass for robust and secure hanging. PRESENTATION: • Originally intended for secure wall mounting via its sealed steel attachment (recommended display mode given the weight). • A small golden metal easel is included with the sculpture for display on a console or shelf. CHARACTERISTICS: • Dimensions: Height 24 cm|Width 27 cm|Depth ~5 cm. • Weight: approximately 4 kg. • Condition: Superb state of preservation, no cracks, with a few tiny black patina/age spots on the top of the headdress, deliberately left untouched to preserve the original mineral patina. DELIVERY: Extremely careful and secure packaging (multiple layers of thick bubble wrap, cushioning, and reinforced rigid cardboard to protect the sculpture). Fast shipping via Mondial Relay or Colissimo (or hand delivery in the Fontainebleau 77 area).
