Georg Glaser "Woman's Face" marble sculpture, ca 1960. Woman's mask carved directly from marble, in a style close to Art Deco. Good condition. Biography: Georg Glaser (Frankental 1950 - Oupeye 2013). Belgian-German multidisciplinary artist, he attended classes from 1971 to 73 at the Academy of Dusseldorf, in 1974-79 at the University of Berlin in ethnology and archaeology, in 1982-83 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. Numerous exhibitions since 1983, in Belgium and abroad including the Galerie Liehrmann in Liège in 2013. Georg Glaser's painting is a social critique that frequently uses a multitude of symbols, but also a critique most often borrowed from humor. The false simplicity of the drawing allows him to effectively translate, on canvas, a sociological questioning which remains complex, and which links him to an entire German expressionist past and present.
