Here is a very pretty glazed earthenware soup tureen (most likely Puisaye stoneware) whose shape, very "bulky" is particularly original, while being very harmonious. The glaze in soft, natural tones: pinkish beige, light caramel with white "drips", is charming. And a small, very studied detail: the "dropping" handle of the lid which recalls the handles of the soup tureen while integrating perfectly with the lid to avoid being too fragile or seeming like an added piece. All this testifies to a beautiful artisanal work of throwing, shaping and glazing. I am even very surprised that it is not signed, because it looks a lot like the ceramics of Pierre Lion which produced, in addition to more artistic pieces, utilitarian tableware with this deliberately rustic aspect, highlighting "the handmade" until 1978 when its workshop closed. Added on 16/07/25: New research tells me that it could also come from the Mallet pottery in Saint-Amand-de Puisaye, a workshop that produced utilitarian ceramics from 1937. This soup tureen probably dates from the 50s to 70s when these natural colors were very fashionable. It is in perfect condition, not even a chip, it has probably never been used. It measures 26.5 cm in width from one handle to the other, approximately 24 cm in maximum diameter, 13.5 cm in height and approximately 17.5 cm in height with the lid.
