A charming glazed stoneware tureen or vegetable dish, made from Puisaye stoneware with a beautiful, slightly pyrite glaze, blending soft and comforting tones: beige, caramel, and chocolate—a material and color scheme typical of the 1970s. A fine piece of craftsmanship by the potter Jean-Pierre Prud’homme. It is unsigned; Jean-Pierre Prud’homme did not sign all his pieces, but I have no doubt, as I once owned a very similar tureen that was signed. Moreover, I can now recognize Prud’homme’s work from afar with absolute certainty. Jean-Pierre Prud’homme and his wife founded a pottery workshop in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from the Nièvre region (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today, run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s and 2000s and also creates very beautiful ceramics. This ceramic piece dates from the 1970s or 80s. It is in very good condition: no cracks, chips, or any other defects. It measures approximately 27 cm wide (including handles), approximately 20 cm in diameter, and 15 cm high including the lid.
