Grand two-body buffet in richly carved Renaissance style – "ANNO 1634" Imposing two-body buffet made of carved wood, featuring particularly rich architecture inspired by the Italian Renaissance. The upper part opens with two large glass doors, framed by abundant high-relief sculpture: leafy scrolls, scrollwork, masks, human figures, fantastic creatures, and animal motifs. The uprights are treated in sculpted terms, with standing figures and draped figures. The upper frieze bears two particularly decorative cartouches inscribed "ANNO" and "1634". This date is a remarkable element of the decor. The piece belongs to a later historicist production that draws on 17th-century models. The lower part, also highly worked, features drawers adorned with masks with rings, followed by two large doors with strongly moulded geometric panels. Each door has a significant sculpted relief motif at its centre. The uprights and the lower crosspiece continue the decoration of figures, foliage, fantastic animals, and scrolls. The back, constructed in a much simpler manner, features wide panels assembled on crosspieces, contrasting with the exuberance of the front. Due to its dimensions and the profusion of its sculpture, this is a particularly spectacular display piece, designed to be the centrepiece of an interior. Dimensions: H. 238 × W. 170 × D. 56 cm.
