Here is a very pretty large stoneware tureen from Puisaye with a charmingly curved shape that reminds me of a pumpkin, and a beautiful glaze blending soft and comforting tones: beige, caramel, and chocolate—materials and colors typical of the 1970s. It is the result of fine craftsmanship in throwing and glazing by the ceramist Jean-Pierre Prud'homme in the 1970s. It is, in fact, signed JP underneath and is part of a very large Prud'homme service that I am offering for sale here in several lots. Jean-Pierre Prud'homme and his wife founded a pottery workshop in Monnaie in 1971, working with clay from the Nièvre region (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today, run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s and 2000s and also creates very beautiful ceramics. This tureen dates from the 1970s and is in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, or even a scratch; it has probably never been used. It measures 30 cm wide including the handles, approximately 23 cm in maximum diameter, 17 cm high including the lid, and 12.5 cm high without the lid.
