French Wooden Mirror, Faux Bamboo Chinoiserie, 57x47cm

Antique faux bamboo mirror featuring its original glass and backing, executed in the Chinoiserie style—a style highly popular during the Art Nouveau period. Originating from France, dating to the first half of the 20th century. The beautiful wooden frame is turned and crafted to resemble real bamboo—hence the term "faux bamboo"—and bears a lovely, weathered patina of age. The mirror glass shows light spotting and decorative oxidation, a common characteristic of very old mirrors. This piece is in very good antique condition, showing minor signs of age and use consistent with its history; there are a few small age-related cracks in the wood, but nothing distracting.
