Antique Wooden Faux Bamboo Mirror, France, 42x36cm

Antique faux bamboo mirror featuring its original glass and back panel; executed entirely in the Chinoiserie style—popular during the Art Nouveau period—this piece originates from France and dates to the first half of the 20th century. The beautiful wooden frame is carved and finished to resemble real bamboo (hence the term "faux bamboo") and bears a lovely, weathered patina of age. The mirror glass features decorative spotting and signs of weathering, as is common with very old mirrors. In good antique condition, showing minor signs of age and use consistent with its age and material; the varnish displays a beautiful craquelé effect, with a few spots of wear to the lacquer finish—please see the photos for details.
